The South Hadley Public School's

Integrated Preschool Program

This program serves students (and their families) who are between 3 and 5 years of age. We provide a program in an integrated setting, offering all children the opportunity to learn, work and play. The program runs four days per week for four hours per day for our youngest students, and for those students requiring additional services, the program is a 6 hour per day, four day per week program

Services for each child are determined at the team meeting, where an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) is written. Beyond enrollment in the pre-K classroom, services may also include Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech and Language services. The team also determines the location of these services, for example, whether these support services will be provided within the classroom or outside of the classroom setting.

The integrated setting provides a learning environment for students with disabilities and their typically developing peers to be educated together.

Our staff consists of Early Childhood Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Educational Therapy Assistants (ETAs), therapists in the fields of Speech/Language, Occupational and Physical Therapies, a teacher of Intensive Special Needs, and an Autism Specialist.

The program follows the preschool curriculum standards outlined by the Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks which includes the following areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology/Engineering, History and Social Sciences, the Arts and Health Education.
